"Our desire to play make believe wars on Playstations was deepening the real
war in central Africa... Tens of thousands of people have moved into the National
Parks and have dug out the riverbeds, panning for coltan... It has left tens
of millions of people dead. Its effect on Africa is akin to that of the First
World War on Europe. [War] has been intensified, prolonged and largely funded
by money Westerners have paid for Congolese coltan. The UN described coltan

Iraq strengthens air force with French parts
Washington Times - 09.03.03 (le WT est le journal de la secte Moon, 150% pro-Bush)
A French company has been selling spare parts to Iraq for its fighter jets and
military helicopters during the past several months, according to U.S. intelligence
officials. The unidentified company sold the parts to a trading company in the
United Arab Emirates, which then shipped the parts through a third country into
Iraq by truck. The spare parts included goods for Iraq's French-made Mirage
F-1 jets and Gazelle attack helicopters. An intelligence official said the illegal
spare-parts pipeline was discovered in the past two weeks and that sensitive
intelligence about the transfers indicates that the parts were smuggled to Iraq
as recently as January. Other intelligence reports indicate that Iraq had succeeded
in acquiring French weaponry illegally for years, the official said.

Britain's dirty secret
The Guardian - 07.03.03
A chemical plant which the US says is a key component in Iraq's chemical warfare
arsenal was secretly built by Britain in 1985 behind the backs of the Americans,
the Guardian can disclose. Documents show British ministers knew at the time
that the £14m plant, called Falluja 2, was likely to be used for mustard
and nerve gas production. Senior officials recorded in writing that Saddam Hussein
was actively gassing his opponents and that there was a "strong possibility"
that the chlorine plant was intended by the Iraqis to make mustard gas. At the
time, Saddam was known to be gassing Iranian troops in their thousands in the
Iran-Iraq war.

Confusion autour de la capture du "cerveau" d'Al-Qaida
Does mastermind of 9/11 held by CIA roam free ?
Toronto Star 05.03.03
"First, Mohammed was arrested in a joint raid by the CIA and Pakistani agents
near Islamabad and spirited out of the country to an "undisclosed location."
"The man who masterminded the September 11th attacks," was how the United States
billed this latest "victory" in the "war against terror"... Then the Pakistanis
announced that he hadn't been taken out of Pakistan at all. Then a Pakistani
police official expressed his ignorance of any such arrest. And then, a Taliban
"source"...claimed that Mohammed "is still with us and in our protection and
we challenge the United States to prove their claim."

Constitutional safeguards cannot be relaxed just because "the crimes are repugnant,"
Associated Press 06.03.03
Two federal judges have dealt a potentially crippling blow to a nationwide Internet
child pornography crackdown, saying the FBI recklessly misled judges to get
search warrants that were used in making more than 100 arrests. Constitutional
safeguards cannot be relaxed just because "the crimes are repugnant," said U.S.
District Judge Denny Chin in New York as he dismissed evidence obtained against
one defendant. Chin's ruling, dated Wednesday, was released publicly Thursday.

though their only activity consisted of entering an e-mail address into a Web
site from a computer located in the confines of their own homes," he wrote.
